Transboundary Water Management in Central Asia

The Isfara River Day unites nations of Central Asia

On September 12-13, 2017, the Isfara River Day was conducted with the support of local authorities of the Isfara and Kanibadama cities, the Small Basin Councils of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan sides of the river, and CAREC under the support of GIZ and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The festival gathered together the representatives of government bodies, water management departments, drinking water supply, public and international organizations, the media from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Representatives of the Uzbek side of the basin were invited as observers for the first time...

Тashkent hosted the fifth meeting of the regional organizations

September 4-5, 2017, Tashkent hosted the fifth meeting of the regional organizations involved in sustainable development and water resources management in Central Asia. The meeting was organized by CAREC and Scientific Information Centre of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission of Central Asia (SIC ICWC) with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) under the project “Strengthening capacities of regional, national and local level institutions and sustaining the experiences gained in the previous phases”. Oslo Forum: the Experience of MRC

September 4-6, with support of EU and GIZ Oslo Forum (Norway) hosting partners from Uzbekistan. Jointly organized by MRC, GIZ GmbH and Multiconsult, the first Oslo Forum taking into account of what has been developed, and is under development in the Mekong region. The Forum draw on similar sustainability initiatives internationally, specifically those related to sustainable hydropower development within the context of sound water resources management, and cater for extended dialogue between organizations and people working on this.
